This American Life #504 has lots of good content, and if you'd prefer to listen (or read the transcript) before I discuss it, please do that now.
The bit that struck me most was in Act Three.
Even though Lewis (and his detective) have fact-checked the central story of Emir Kamenica's career and offered him some changes, Emir sticks to the arc of his original story. Michael Lewis and Emir's wife Yelena discuss why Emir is happy.
"The reason her husband's so happy, she thinks, has to do with the way he filters the world around him -- the way he decides not just what to think about, but how to think about it."
I've been filtering the world in specific ways for years and I believe that such effectiveness as I have is the result of filtering and focusing. YMMV, but it has worked for me.
And how this technique will interact with an increasing passion for and focus on truth will be an adventure indeed.
