I celebrated Palm Sunday with MCC Portland ... virtually.
Here are the items they suggested we prepare, ahead of time. That lighter was purchased at "Isaac's Northstar", a gas station in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, quite near the house that's currently the first image on this tumblr. I cut the bread out of a crusty loaf my wife made in her bread machine. And that's a spash of Pinot Grigio.
Nathan Meckley's sermon was terrific. "From what do you long to be delivered?" You can hear more of his recent sermons on the church's web site.
I watched on my phone. There were a lot of us watching so the quality was fuzzy at times. Here's the video from when Wave (short for Wavell) read scripture.
Enrique delivered the invitation to communion. (Here in Portland he appears regularly on stage, and as a voice artist he's also one of the voices of the MAX, saying "Doors will open on my right," in Spanish.)
Later that day I attended a virtual Seder with my friend Margery, who picked Sauk Centre as a destination on on our cross country trip.

When you see empty cities, don’t think “This looks like the end of the world.” Think instead, this is love. This is all of us going to unprecedented lengths to protect the most vulnerable among us. This is the most massive display of pure love that any of us is likely ever to see in our lifetime.
